Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people understand and use spoken language.
More than 40,000 children and their families in Western Australia are affected by DLD. It is hidden condition that affects approximately 2 children in every classroom impacting on literacy, learning, friendships and emotional well-being. Increasing awareness helps build more inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities where people with DLD are understood, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
This Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) Awareness Day, wear purple, start a conversation, and help shine a light on DLD. Together, we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to communicate, connect, and thrive.
